Jad Montenegro is musician and all-around bag lady. She is the current host of Muzika del Sur News and previous host of rock show Durian Shake. She just released her EP called Fixed Points and Pendulums for her self-titled band, with bandmates Dave Ibao on drums and Pjoe Sabanpan on bass. She was awarded Best Pop Artist of The Year by Muzika Del Sur for 2009, and won Best Music Video for 2010. She is the vocalist of Polar Depth, an electronica/experimental band. Polar Depth was also given a special citation for Breakout Electronica Artist in 2009. To support her bad habits, like playing gigs for free and producing an indie album, she works from home as a writer. She is married to professional comic illustrator John Amor, a.k.a The Boy.
People find their convos funny.

She is not a professional blogger, but this is the space she compiles current obsessions in, like

DIY/crafts
clothes
nail polish
music
dyeing her hair
crocheting stuff for her facebook shop Hats and Things
and the occasional lulz-worthy photo.

Funny Little Owl Hat

I made my 6-month old nephew a baby owl hat. I didn’t put any yarn tufts on top because I wasn’t confident they would stay put on an active baby - he would exactly be the kind of infant to put pulled-out yarn in his mouth and swallow it! Eep.

I did put some braided tails though - those are tied tight and can’t be pulled apart.

Personally, I think this hat is a hoot. (Teehee.)

I make these hats over at my hat shop, Hats and Things.

Marj’s Pink and Purple Newsboy

So my good friend Marj asked if I could make a newsboy for her newborn Adele (less than 2 months) and said if I could make it pink and purple that would be great. So I tried making one and here’s how it turned out:

I would have taken photos of it on my hat stand, but it was so tiny it wouldn’t even come close to fitting!

I made the flower on it bright purple and sewed a black button in the middle.

The colors are especially bright under artificial lighting, but they are more muted in the daylight. I hope Marj’s little darling looks adorable in it!
